GREAT designer Desk in Fantastic Condition
This is a wonderful floating top Teak desk from the highly acclaimed Danish designer, Kai Kristiansen. This is a very nicely constructed piece that was well cared for over the years. The design is iconic Danish Modern and the trademark Kai Kristiansen drawer pulls, are all intact. This desk features the very sought after bookcase / display area integrated into the design. This feature is very practical for books or reference material but can also be used as a display area for collectables.
Each pedestal has three drawers with a locking top drawer. Unfortunately one of the locks was removed many years ago. I have my restoration professional searching for a replacement at this time. I have a number of vintage Danish cabinet locks but none of them fit. The needed lock appears to be slightly different than those used on the majority of vintage Danish furnishings. If I can find a replacement this will be installed. That said, I am not holding my breath on this one as the size is a little odd.
This is an iconic Mid Century design from a world renowned Danish designer. The lines are simple and elegant allowing this piece to blend seamlessly with Danish Modern, Deco and Hollywood Regency styles. If creating a mid century décor or an eclectic environment, this wonderful desk could be the ticket.
DISASEMBLY: Desk will be fully disassembled for safer transportation and delivery into your home or office. The desk will include the follow pieces: Top + 4 Legs + Left Pedestal + Right Pedestal + Center Storage Section. This desk is easy to reassemble and you will only need a screwdriver.
CONDITION: This piece is in very fine condition with only light signs of use. As you can see in the photos this desk shows VERY well. That said, there are a few pressure dents on the top (which cannot be seen in the photos) and a few imperfections on the legs. I spoke to my restoration pro about this and he feels that trying to get this piece “perfect” could cause more issues than simply leaving it with some small signs of use. He felt that in this case, the issues were small enough that the cure could be worse than the illness.
Absolutely no burns, veneer missing, water stains, chips or gouges. This item is very nice with no damage but some light blemishes.
