We were very lucky to run across this rather rare, black leather and Jacaranda wood lounge chair and ottoman, designed by Jean Gillon for Italma. Gillon’s designs have always been sought after but modernist Brazilian designers seem to be gaining ground among collectors creating even more demand for his designs. This is an excellent example of his chair work and it is in near mint condition with the matching ottoman. Frankly, I find this particular model to be one of his more attractive designs.
This wonderful lounge chair and ottoman came from the original owner’s estate and was seldom used over the past 50 years. The heavy original leather is soft, supple and without blemish. The condition is as close to “near mint” as you are going to find. The Jacaranda wood frame is also in exceptional “near mint” condition. This is simply one of the finest examples of a Jean Gillon leather and Jacaranda lounge chair that you will find from any dealer at any price.
